The futility of trying to leave our own Legacy.

By being overly concerned with our legacy, we do more to bring it down than to birth it into reality.

Legacy

I know of what I speak, and history proves this out more than anything. Many great leaders, in trying to change the course of civilization through conquest and tyranny have become despised and mocked personalities of either mental instability or fierce cruelty, or the two inseparably conjoined.

The point I will simply make it this –

Live in peace and love with all people, do what is right, live the convictions of the faith, and don’t be consumed with what comes after we leave this Earth.

Those who have tried to leave a legacy by exerting personal power and suppression on others, forcing their views and will on them, have failed completely.

Jesus came in love to this world. He effected the inevitable diversion of man from his falling into an oblivion of his own sinful lusts, to one of glorious hope and inclusion. He didn’t accomplish this through blind rage or creating mindless robots to obey His every command, no, it was though amazing sacrifice. His sacrifice.

The legacy created isn’t ours, it is His. We live for Him willingly, we build upon the testimony of lives who over the ages have given themselves fully and gladly to see His name made great.

To God be the glory, great things He has done!

Hebrews 12:1,2 (KJV)

12 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
