A well-known Christian leader has walked away from the faith and the Christians be trippin’! Maybe you haven’t noticed that people have been leaving the church since well, the beginning of churches.
If there is any blame laid at the feet of Christians they rise up like a wounded tiger and scratch and claw to save their name and reputation. But wouldn’t it be insightful if the church instead took a new and fresh look at who they are?
I am not talking about watering down your faith, but standing by it. I think the church has lost something important, personal care and responsibility for others.
There was this song going around when I was a kid. Part of it said this…”They will know we are Christians by our love, by our love, they will know we are Christians by our love”. I hope there are people close to those who lose their faith praying for them, showing love in being a listener, and really hearing what it is that has caused them to take such a step.
Everyone comes to points in their lives in which they question or doubt and struggle to make sense of things. Who are you to say they are wrong or God is separating the wheat from the chaff. How dare you! And if in your church someone walks away did not God say to leave the 99 to save the one? Hmmm, forgot about that huh?
If a worship leader steps away because he has questions and doubts, applaud him for doing the RIGHT thing. Stop judging from afar with your measly little gavel pounding hissy fit and let people figure some stuff out without you piling on. Thats not very Christian of you.
